Restoration & Historic Preservation

Craftsmen First, Builders Second

Leipers Creek Timber Frames first got into the art of preserving old buildings when a sawmill client asked that we transport a pavilion with great sentimental value nearly 200 miles. The process began in Nashville, TN and ended on a mountaintop near Knoxville. The frame was meticulously disassembled and transported. New 16"x16" posts were cut and installed from the client's collection and the entire frame now stands today as a cabin, ready to brave the mountainous elements in its new home.

We would love to learn about your existing timber structure. The history of a single timber framed building can be astounding; often details about its construction can be gleaned from the joinery, saw patterns, species, and other key features that shine a light on a different time period in construction.
