Village Elms 24×36 Cruck Pavilion
The Village Elms cruck pavilion is a 24-by-36-foot open timber frame built around curved principal members—the crucks that give the pavilion its arched silhouette.
Cruck framing is an older European tradition brought into a modern outdoor pavilion: the curved blades carry the roof load into the ground floor posts, so the center of the space stays open for gathering.
Leiper’s Creek Timber Frames cut and raised this pavilion as a custom frame for the Village Elms property. It sits as a freestanding outdoor room—shade, structure, and joinery on display.
Open pavilions have nowhere to hide a bad joint. Every tenon, brace, and plate is visible, so the shop work and the raising have to land flush before roofing begins.
